All of our products are designed and built to utilize True Trussing. A “true” truss has continuous webs (the triangles) that are all connected without any gaps. Any place where a gap is left between the webs a weak spot is created due to the web under load not being able to distribute the load across the entire trussed frame.
On the collapsed Boat Lift in the upper picture you can see that there were 4” gaps between the webs which led to the failure.
Two of our Boat Lifts are picture below. The further one is a 5000 lb capacity and the closer one is an 6500 lb capacity. Note how our webs are all touching.
We also use the traditional form of trussing that is made from solid 1/8” angle iron and 3/8” thick webs. From our experience it is more durable and can withstand more lateral force (from dock mounts) than laser cut and folded trussing.
